Create a tuition gift registry.

You've heard of wedding gift registries, right? Well, a new website offers a similar service to college students that need to pay for school. Greennote is a new website that connects college students with parents, friends, or perfect strangers that want to lend money for tuition using traditional social-networking processes. Pretty cool--you can finally put those MySpace skills to work.

While this might be an ideal solution for those of you looking to close the gap between college cost and how much you can pay, keep in mind is that using this service is the same as taking out a loan--the typical interest rate is 6.8%. This interest accrues throughout your college career. However, lenders can set lower interest rates, or no interest rates at all, or waive the interest after you graduate (if you are nice and send letters to them).
