Summer jobs are good.

So, let's say you didn't get a head start on the scholarship search and you have to take out student loans.  It's ok. Don't stress.  Just remember, you do have to pay them back so try to use them as sparingly as possible.  It may be time to start looking for a summer  or part-time job (it's about that time of year, anyway). This way, you can minimize the amount you borrow.  If you spend a lot of your time in the summer working, you might just make enough to avoid working in the school year.

However, some of you are going to end up working while you are taking full course loads. Check out CollegeHelpers.com, a website that posts part-time job opportunities for college students. You type in your information, and the website will hook you up with job opportunities in your area.  Don't want the typical part-time job? Consider providing freelance services in your area of expertise:

English Majors: What about doing freelance writing for local business that need marketing material.

Graphic Design: Same thing here--businesses need you!

Blogging: you can monetize a blog and earn some passive income.

This is not an exhaustive list by any means (it is only three ideas, after all), but I hope it gets the brain a pumpin' and thinking of ways you can create some income for yourself while you are in school.

Remember, the ultimate goal is paying for school and reducing your financial burden--some times it requires some good ol' fashioned hard work.
